Every two weeks I have the privilege of going on the Brian and Kathleen morning show in Cleveland to talk about Singleness.

My topic today was on “Using Your Power for Good”. Here’s a re-cap for you:

We get so caught up with the problem in our life that we miss the blessing in the trial.

When it comes to singleness, hands down and without question, according to the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 7, the biggest blessing of singleness is freedom!

  • Freedom from Anxiety

  • Freedom with our time

  • Freedom to give God our undivided devotion and focus

So how do we move from a place of pain and defeat to living with power?

  • Recognize the battle for your soul: In 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 we’re reminded that our battle isn’t with flesh and blood. Satan is trying hard to defeat and discourage us, but God is has given us everything we need to live victoriously. Some of us need the reminder that our struggle isn’t because we’re so weak but because Satan hates us and is trying to take us down.

  • Resolve to live with courage: It takes resolve to fight for joy. It takes a decision of our will motivated by hearts that have been won by Jesus to stand up and live by God’s promises. Right now you can resolve to change. No more negativity, no more self-pity, it’s time to step out in faith and make a courageous decision to repent and obey God!

  • Rely on God’s tools for victory: The good news is that God has given us exactly what we need for victory. Spend some time in Ephesians 6:10-20 and you’ll see what I mean. We’ve been given a shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. In other words, we’ve got to get serious about getting into God’s word and praying! These are life giving tools!

All right, all right. So now what?

Well once we start living in the freedom that is ours in Christ, it’s time to use our power for good! I’ve put together a resource called “The Singles Guide to Thriving: 500 Ways to Thrive in Your World”.
